APPLETON, Wis–Two people are dead–another nine are injured–after a series of crashes along Interstate 41 on Sunday. The State Patrol says the incident started with an alleged drunk driver that was involved in a rollover crash along northbound I-41 at the 441 interchange in Appleton around 3:30 Sunday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
In the back up caused by that crash, a pregnant woman driving a northbound pickup truck swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle and went into the median. That vehicle rolled over–throwing a male passenger from the truck. The pickup then went back onto I-41 and collided with a semi trailer. The pregnant female was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her unborn child died.
That was followed by a five-vehicle crash in which another male driver was pronounced dead at the scene–and six others were injured. The names of those involved have not been released.
