APPLETON, Wis–A June 19th trial date is set for a suspect in a cold case sexual assault and abduction at the Fox River Mall. John Carter is charged in Outagamie County Court with First Degree Sexual Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Kidnapping.
According to the criminal complaint, Carter pulled a gun on a 16-year old girl who was leaving her job at the mall back in February of 2000. Investigators used D-N-A evidence to allegedly link Carter to the assault in 2021.
He faces up to 120-years in prison if convicted.
