NEENAH, Wis–Neenah Police arrest a student that brought a gun and ammunition to class today (Tuesday). The school resource officer was notified that the student may have stolen the weapon and was keeping it at a Neenah residence. The student was brought in for questioning at the school and his backpack was found in a vacant classroom. Inside was an unloaded handgun and ammunition.
The student was arrested and the high school was put on lockdown. Police believe this is an isolated incident.

This afternoon, the Neenah High School Resource Officer received a
call with a tip that a student may have stolen a firearm and was
keeping it at a Neenah residence. The student was at school and was
immediately brought in for questioning. The student’s belongings were
located in an empty classroom and, upon search of his backpack, an
unloaded handgun was found. Ammunition was also found in the backpack.
The handgun was secured by law enforcement and the student was taken
into custody. Once law enforcement secured the weapon, it was deemed
that it was an isolated incident and there was an increased police
presence for the remainder of the afternoon. The lockdown drill
previously scheduled for the afternoon went on as planned. School
administration worked with law enforcement to ensure a safe release of
students at the end of the day.
