GREEN BAY, WI — An attempt to stop a vehicle in Green Bay for speeding in a school zone ends with the arrest of a convicted felon and the seizure of drugs and drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Green Bay Police say the incident started in the 1000 block of Laverne Drive when officers attempted to stop the vehicle. That led to a brief chase where the suspect stopped in the 900 block of Mt. Mary Drive and took off on foot. Witnesses say the suspect went into a home without the owner’s consent before being arrested.
The suspect is 20-year-old James Mitchell of Green Bay. Police found a loaded Glock 45 Caliber handgun with a 26-round magazine. Officers also recovered just over 38 grams of crack cocaine, M-D-M-A also known as Ecstacy, prescription drugs, a digital scale, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Mitchell is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – Repeat Offender, Bail Jumping – Repeat Offender, Knowingly Flee/Elude or Attempt to Flee/Elude an Officer – Repeat Offender, Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine-Repeat Offender, Obstructing an Officer – Repeat Offender, Possession of a Controlled Substance – Repeat Offender and Possession of Illegally Obtained Prescription – Repeat Offender.
