MADISON, Wis–Governor Tony Evers’ proposed budget would allow Wisconsin public school districts to increase their spending by a thousand dollars per student over the next two years. Department of Public Instruction Policy and Budget Director Erin Fath says the package includes an additional one-billion dollars to fund that……………….
Fath thinks that will get all districts at least to a point of providing what students need…………..
Fath says there would be no impact on local taxpayers–so long as the state continues to increase education funding in the future……………..
The other one-point-six billion dollars in the governor’s budget is earmarked for what is called “categorical aids”–which fund things like special education programs and mental health counseling.
