NEENAH, Wis–A federal judge grants a preliminary injunction blocking the city of Neenah from fining homeowners that are keeping signs in their yards opposing the rezoning of the Shattuck Middle School property. Tim and Megan Florek filed the lawsuit after receiving a notice from the city to remove their signs, or face daily fines.
The conservative legal group, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, argues the sign ordinance violates the first amendment. The injunction will remain in place while the legal fight plays out.
Earlier this year, Neenah officials announced that they would voluntarily suspend enforcement of the yard sign ordinance and not issue any fines.
