Kimberly girl struck and killed by semi in Combined Locks

COMBINED LOCKS, WI — A 9-year-old girl killed in a Friday afterhoon crash in Combined Locks and the driver of a semi-tractor that struck her are identified. The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle driven by Brian Du Frane, 59, of Kaukauna was traveling southbound on South Washington Street. At the intersection of South Washington and Wallace Street the vehicle struck nine-year-old Mackenzine Van Eperen of Kimberly, as she was crossing the street. The sheriff’s office says Van Eperen was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Investigators say initial findings show speed was not a factor in the crash. The investigation into that crash continues.
