APPLETON, Wis–2022 was a record year for tourism in the Fox Valley. The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau reports direct visitor spending of $558-million last year–an increase of 20% over 2021 numbers, and the most since data tracking began in 2011.
Lodging spending increased the most in the sector, up 34.5%, to $122-million. The bureau estimates the total financial impact of tourism in the Fox Cities last year was $729-million, supporting 4,900 jobs.
Discover Oshkosh also reports record tourism spending in that area, bringing in $522-million, surpassing the record of $509-million set in 2019.
