MILWAUKEE, Wis–Legislative Republicans unveil their plan to improve American Family Field and keep the Brewers in Milwaukee long-term. The measure would commit $600-million over the next thirty years to make improvements to the stadium to keep it a competitive facility in Major League Baseball.
The revenue for that commitment would come from income taxes collected on players and Brewers staff. Representative Robert Brooks of Saukville says taxpayers will not be on the hook………………..
Senator Dan Feyen (fine) of Fond du Lac says the Brewers will also sign a lease extension………….
Among the planned improvements to AmFam will be weatherization–allowing the facility to be used in the winter for events like concerts. Rep. Brooks says that will increase the revenues the facility can generate to pay for the improvements…………..
Milwaukee County, the city of Milwaukee, and the Brewers will also have to contribute some funds to the stadium plan.
