Victim and officer in Menasha shooting identified

MENASHA, WI — Investigators release the names of the victim and a Menasha police officer involved shooting in Menasha earlier this month. The state Department of Justice says the victim is 43-year-old Kenneth Blevens,. Menasha Police and Fox Crossing Police were both dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 1100 block of Geneva Road on October 7. Upon arrival, officer found a man armed with bladed weapons. The DOJ says during the encounter Menasha Officer Derrick Rotta fired his weapon, striking Blevens. Officers immediately began life saving measures that proved unsuccessful as Blevens was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Rotta is a four-year veteran and is on administrative leave as the DOJ investigation continues. Officers from both Menasha and Fox Crossing were equipped with body cameras during the incident.
