JUNEAU, WI — A suspect is now indicted in the so-called “grandparent scam” in multiple cases including one in Dodge County. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the scam last May. An elderly Dodge County resident received a call in March that their grandson was in jail and needed bail money. The suspect arrived at the elderly resident’s home, identified themselves as a representative of their grandson’s attorney and took the money. A Dodge County detective and a forensic sketch artist worked with victim to get a rendering of the suspect. That information helped the FBI find 11 other victims and the suspect, who was indicted last week. That suspect is now in federal custody and is only being identified as a Canadian national.
