CRANDON, WI — The slight shaking some Forest County residents felt Sunday morning is determined to be an earthquake. According to the U-S Geological Survey, a tremor measuring two-point-five on the Richter Scale took place around 7:05 A-M. The U-S-G-S says the epicenter was located six-point-two miles underground and two-point-four miles northeast of Mole Lake. The Forest County Sheriff’s Office says on its Facebook page that it received “multiple calls regarding abnormally excessive shaking/vibration coming from the ground.” The sheriff’s office says it received no reports of damage or injuries due to the earthquake near Crandon.
