Albert Einstein famously stated that the definition of insanity is ‘doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’
This line is quoted by large numbers of people across every industry.
Business, media, politics, research, sports, etc. Most entities can grasp the concept that an unwanted outcome will continue continue happening if their processes remain constant.
Honestly, now that I’m reading what I wrote, I have to ask why it took one of the smartest people in human history to point this out to us.
I do have to ask though, why it seems like most people can grasp this concept in so many situations, but when it comes to economic systems, the idea of significant change is unfathomable.
Earlier today, I spoke with the Founder and President of the Income To Support All Foundation, Scott Santens, about this problem.
He is a big supporter of UBI (Universal Basic Income) as a means to help lift large numbers of Americans out of the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle they so many have been relegated to.
Several countries have performed trial runs for the program, netting almost exclusively positive results, and yet it doesn’t seem to be able to get any traction here in the states.
I spoke to Scott about what he has learned while compiling info about the topic, and the likelihood that we might see a program like this start to gain some momentum.
