OSHKOSH, Wis–The city of Oshkosh will continue to have a mayor. The Common Council rejects an ordinance change that would have re-titled the position “Council President”. Current Mayor Matt Mugerauer proposed the change, saying the City Manager-Council form of government gives the position little extra power.
Council member Karl Buhlow says a new name won’t change that confusion………….
The proposed ordinance would have still allowed for direct election of the Council President, like is done for the mayor’s position.
