GREEN BAY, Wis–A get out the vote effort by several Green Bay groups is stopped–as it could have violated state law. United Front for Social Change, 9to5 Wisconsin, Casa Alba Melanie, COMSA, and We All Rise had announced plans to increase turnout for Tuesday’s election.
Those efforts included” providing free rides to the polls, free food and an open bar for those that voted, and cash prizes for social media users that got the most people out to vote.

Brown County District Attorney David Lasee issued a warning to the groups pointing out that offering anything of value in exchange for voting is illegal under state statute. Lasee added that the social “influencer” cash payments could also constitute “election bribery”.
