Ever notice how you think you see things, pay attention to details, know what’s going on around you? Right….So, how did I not know of a world-class jazz festival happening yearly, and it’s just an hour down the road?
Maybe I just missed it or didn’t stumble across the right publicity, but the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake has been hosting “Jazz on the Vine” for over a decade. Great jazz artists from across the country, along with wine tastings, great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Plus, the added bonus of meeting jazz fans from everywhere. We met plenty of Wisconsinites, but sprinkled in new friends from Des Moines, Chicago and other upper Midwest cities.
There’s little doubt that music lovers in our region are spoiled with Mile of Music, Summerfest, blues festivals, etc. But this event, more of a musical nitch show, was perfect for serious jazz fans. Jazz is more than music for your ears….it hits your heart, your soul, your whole being.
Another example of how important it is to pay attention, pay, pay attention!
