Dave Edwards–Storm damage 6-6-24
It was minor damage, but we were not spared in the recent severe weather that hit the metro on May 21st.
By far, the city of Kaukauna took the biggest whack, with a tornado that knocked out power, felled trees and damaged a lot of homes. I did an initial inspection of my house and grounds and didn’t notice anything glaring…at first. Upon further review, I noticed a wind gust must have shoved my soffit and vents up into my garage framing in about a 10 foot section. No big thing, but still a few hundred to have a local company come in, and on a holiday Friday afternoon, fix the damage and replace the soffit.
Our damage pales in comparison to the utter devastation wrought in the Plains and Midwest, where loss of life was not uncommon due to the ferocity of the storms. You often hear grateful victims say that “it’s just possessions, at least everyone is safe”. Especially true when severe weather approaches and you feel so hopeless to defend yourself.
