Highway 55 in Kaukauna still closed after pavement cleared of bricks

KAUKAUNA, WI — After initially saying a section of Highway 55 in Kaukauna was reopened to traffic, the Wisconsin DOT says those lanes remain closed, as they have been since bricks from a portion of a building facade collapsed. Highway 55 between Taylor Street and Wisconsin Avenue was closed Sunday afternoon after the top brick facade of the Galleria of Tile fell onto the pavement. Nobody was injured by the falling bricks, although one family living in the upper portion of the building was displaced while engineers reviewed the structural integrity of the nearly century-old building.
