Dave Edwards and It’s Just my Take
Activists
6-28-24
Throwing paint on classic art….spraying colored powder on Stonehenge…dumping colored powder on the 18th green of a PGA Tour event. What were you thinking? Obviously, not much.
These very public displays of activism on behalf of your cause may, in your mind, add tons of exposure to what you’re all about. We’ll create a massive amount of attention to let the world know of our strife, and people will rally to our cause! Hold on a second, Dexter.
Sure, the immediate publicity burst may seem worth the risk, but what if the vast majority of the P.R. is negative? Every time I see one of these stunts, I can’t help but think “what a bunch of idiots”! You’ve disrupted an event or damaged or destroyed private property, all in the name of your “cause”. Civil disobedience is one thing. Possible destruction of property is a crime.
Can’t help but wonder what the conversations were like when they hatched these ill-advised plots.
Maybe we could do the booking photos in before and after mode: one clean and one with the same stupid paint or powder covering the perps. What were you thinking, indeed.
