APPLETON, Wis. — It’s life in prison for the man convicted in a Grand Chute cold case murder.
Gene Meyer received that sentence Thursday for the 1988 sexual assault and murder of Betty Rolf. Her body was found underneath the Spencer Street bridge, which was close to her home and her workplace at the Country Aire Banquet Room.
Investigators identified Meyer as Rolf’s killer through a DNA match three decades after her murder.
Meyer will be eligible for parole on the homicide charge after 34 years, though he’ll have to serve 20 years on a sexual assault charge if parole is granted.
