GREEN LAKE, Wis. — What was suspected to be a possible kayaker drowning in Green Lake is now believed to be a case of a faked death.
According to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, new evidence has helped investigators determine that 44-year-old Ryan Borgwardt skipped town in August.
The department says a search of Borgwardt’s laptop in October showed he replaced a hard drive, uploaded the computer contents to the cloud, took out a $375,000 life insurance policy in January and purchased airline cards.
Anyone with information on Borgwardt’s whereabouts should contact the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
