DE PERE, Wis–The De Pere Police Department is seeking the termination of a detective. Chief Jeremy Muraski says Sargeant Steve Yedica has violated several department policies and procedures.

According to the complaint, Yedica failed to properly investigate a drug overdose death in August of 2021, ignoring clear evidence and strong leads, before closing out the case without any arrests or recommendation of charges.
Chief Muraski has sent a notice of termination to the De Pere Police and Fire Commission. The Commission met behind closed doors on Tuesday to discuss the matter.
Yedica has been placed on administrative leave.
