APPLETON, Wis–Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson weighs in on the turnover in leadership at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School System. Nelson took to Facebook to defend his sister-in-law, Katie Heim, who resigned this week at President of the Xavier System.

In the post Nelson says: “Katie was unfairly scapegoated. Worse, she was hurt, perhaps permanently scarred, by the very community she serves and the church upon which she has grounded her faith and life. This is to say nothing of the fallout her daughters / my nieces have suffered – one of whom is no longer in the System. Let that sink in.”
An on-line petition called for Heim’s resignation after she fired Xavier High School Principal Mike Mauthe and Superintendent John Ravizza last month for violations of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese “Promise to Protect” policy.
