APPLETON, Wis–Appleton Police say social media posts about their involvement in immigration enforcement is false, and may be a scam. In their own Facebook post, the department says it was tagged in a post by a “Hollie Poupart” about a single mother being arrested with her children outside of a grocery store in Appleton last Saturday and then deported.
Records show no Appleton officers were involved in such an action on the date described. The post also asks for donations to “help the mother and children”.
Police officials say they do not regularly request immigration status information from those with whom they interact.
