Beyond the…galaxy? 3-3-25
I recently heard that Blue Origin is going to launch a craft soon with only female crew members on board, including singer Katy Perry and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King. Does that move the needle for you? Let me guess…probably not.
I am fascinated with the search for knowledge…out there. Space has always intrigued me, especially since I grew up in the Star Trek and Star Wars generation. Yes, I also fully understand that going there costs a tremendous amount of money. And, for what? Knowledge, the pursuit of the unknown….the ability to connect with other planets and maybe, just maybe, other beings?
Most of what we see in space is privately funded now, with Americans’ desire to see tax dollars used in space waning in the past two decades.
Sure, Elon Musk still dips into the space contract fund to the extreme, with expeditions to Mars on the docket for the 2030’s. But, to what end? Will we benefit from this in any way, or is this just the fulfilling of a billionaire’s dreams to do the next biggest and best thing?
I’m torn. I’ve always felt that the truth is out there. But, is the price of that truth worth the cost to obtain it?
