GREEN BAY, Wis. — Wisconsin’s supper club tradition is highlighted through a special philanthropic effort this week.
Taste of the Draft is presented by Schreiber Foods in collaboration with the Green Bay Packers. The event on Wednesday, April 23, brings together top chefs, 20 legendary supper clubs, and Green Bay Packers greats to raise funds for school nutrition grants for 90 schools throughout Wisconsin aligned with the 90th Anniversary of the NFL Draft.
Some of the local supper clubs participating include,
- Mark’s East Side, Appleton, WI, with their Mini Scotch Eggs
- Gabes Wisconsin Kitchen & Tavern, Oshkosh, WI, with their MJ’s Pot Roast
- Van Abel’s, Kaukauna, WI with their Marry Me Chicken
- Hotel Seymour Supperclub, Seymour, WI, with their Chicken Cordon Bleu
Proceeds from the event will benefit GENYOUth, a national nonprofit that is tackling youth hunger in Wisconsin. The organization provides critical school meal equipment and resources to schools throughout the country.
We spoke with GENYOUth CEO, Ann Marie Krautheim, about the impact that GENYOUth has had.
As shared by GENYOUth, a staggering 1 in 6 Wisconsin kids is food insecure, and for many the school meal is the only daily nutrition they can count on.
Taste of the Draft is modeled after Taste of the NFL, the Super Bowl’s largest philanthropic event most recently held at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
Taste of the Draft will also be hosted by several celebrity chefs,
- Andrew Zimmern
- Mark Bucher
- Paul Bartolotta
We had the opportunity to hear from Chef Mark Bucher about his role in the event and what he looks forward to when it comes to supper club culture in Wisconsin.
Tickets for the event are available here.
