OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Oshkosh Area School District continues to see a racial disparity when it comes to student suspension.
The district reported 642 suspensions so far this year, with students of color receiving nearly half of those despite making up just 16 percent of the classroom population.
That upsets school board member Molly Smiltneek…………….
Director of student services Matt Kaemmerer says they are working with teachers on implicit biases………
Oshkosh schools are seeing declining numbers of overall suspensions from a high of 940 during the 2022-23 school year.
