FOND DU LAC, Wis. — An illegal immigrant is convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child in Fond du Lac County.
That verdict came after Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia pleaded no contest to that charge.
Rocha Mejia was charged in connection with a 2024 assault of a girl who was given to him by her mother for $250. That girl managed to escape from Rocha Mejia’s van as he was attempting to duct tape her mouth during the assault.
Both Mejia and the girl’s mother, Elia Antonio, were found to be in the U.S. illegally.
Rocha Mejia will be sentenced on Aug. 21. Antonio has already been convicted of human trafficking of a child, failure to Protect a child and bail jumping. She will also be sentenced on Aug. 21.
