OSHKOSH, Wis. — The city of Oshkosh may no longer provide ambulance service to outlying parts of Winnebago County.
Last year, the city planned to add a fourth ambulance to its fire department to deal with increased calls in rural areas. But efforts to hire the needed eight firefighter/paramedics have not brought in enough interest.
City manager Rebecca Grill says that means Oshkosh can no longer afford to run its three existing ambulance crews that far out of town…………..
Deputy mayor Joe Stephenson says he feels bad for the outlying townships, but he needs to think about Oshkosh first………..
Last year, Oshkosh signed a two-year contract for ambulance services for the outlying townships.
A resolution to dissolve that deal will go before the Oshkosh Common Council later this year.
