WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board blames pilot error for a warbird crash into Lake Winnebago during the 2023 EAA Airventure.
A North American AT-6D went into the lake shortly after takeoff from Wittman Regional Airport on July 29 of that year.
The final crash report says pilot Devyn Reiley of Texas failed to maintain proper airspeed, which caused the plane to go into a stall and a flat spin before hitting the water.
She and passenger Zach Colliemoreno were killed in the crash.
