APPLETON, Wis–The Appleton Area School District is seeing success in reducing the number of seclusion and restraint incidents in the classroom.
There were 127-incidents were students were placed in seclusion in the 2024-25 school year. That is down from 347 the year before.
Appleton Schools report 59-incidents of physical restraint being used against students. That compares to 121-incidents in 2023-24.
The vast majority of students involved in such incidents are those with disabilities.
In recent years, the Appleton Area School District has increased training for teachers in dealing with control issues. Wisconsin school districts are required to publish such information every year.
