UPDATED at 2:05 pm–Appleton Police have a person in custody following an armed standoff. Officers were called to the area of State and 6th Streets around 11:50 this (Friday) morning on the report of a homicidal or suicidal man.
The area around the incident was blocked off while negotiators spoke with the suspect. He surrendered without incident around 1:15. No shots were fired.

APPLETON, Wis–Appleton Police are asking people to stay away from the area of State and 6th Streets. Officers are dealing with an active situation in that area.
Those in the neighborhood should shelter in place. No other details have been released.
