CHILTON, Wis–A police chase through Calumet County ends up in Lake Winnebago. Chilton Police were notified that a subject with outstanding warrants was traveling through the area around 2:00 this (Thursday) morning.
An officer attempted to stop the vehicle along State Highway 57, but the suspect took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued for more than 20-miles into Fond du Lac County, before returning to Calumet.
The driver went into Lake Winnebago at the end of Gladwater Beach Road and initially refused to leave the partially submerged vehicle. After negotiations with officers, the suspect surrendered without further incident.
Two knives and a baseball bat were found in the vehicle. Criminal charges are pending.
