TOWN OF GERMANIA, Wis. — The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death Wednesday of a 67-year-old Greenleaf man in the town of Germania.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the location on County Road M after a caller said his friend was shot by another man in a garage on the property. As the caller spoke with dispatchers from another building he’d locked himself into, he fired a shot when the suspected shooter tried to force his way into the building.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers encountered the shooting suspect, who initially refused to comply with officers’ verbal commands but was eventually arrested and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspected shooter is identified as a 74-year-old Clintonville man.
Sheriff’s investigators determined the suspected shooter, the deceased man and the caller who reported the shooting are co-owners of hunting land in the Germania area.
