APPLETON, Wis. — A former high school bowling coach gets a suspended jail sentence and two years on probation for strangling a 13-year-old boy during a practice session in Seymour.
Sixty-year-old James Beilfuss pleaded guilty in Outagamie County Court to strangulation as part of a plea deal.
The incident took place in April at Wally’s Seymour Bowling Alley, which Beilfuss owns.
According to court documents, Beilfuss and the boy had an argument after Beilfuss criticized the youth for the way he was bowling. Beilfuss admitted he “lost it,” and his attorney, Shane Barbazon, says he knew almost immediately he’d done wrong……….
Judge Mark McGinnis took Beilfuss’ regret into consideration at sentencing……….
Beilfuss was sentenced to 90 days in jail, but McGinnis stayed that sentence and ordered two years of probation.
