APPLETON, Wis. — Ridership on Valley Transit buses has dropped by 40 percent since the pandemic.
The system went from 944,000 rides in 2019 to 557,000 rides last year.

Much of that is due to reduced service hours caused by driver shortages, which general manager Ron McDonald says has not been made up for with their on-demand ride service………….
Valley Transit ridership did rebound from 2020 lows through 2023, but the last two years have seen continued declines.
