(KAUKAUNA, WI) — The cost of improving the city of Kaukauna’s water treatment system comes in much higher than expected. Bids for the project came in at $31-million–19% more than anticipated.
Kaukauna Utilities will be replacing 125-year old components in the water treatment system, while also installing a reverse osmosis system. The upgrades would require a projected $28 a month increase in typical residential water bills.
The rate increases would be done in two stages in 2027 and 2028. Construction will start this spring–with the project completed in the summer of 2028.
