(APPLETON, WI) — A non-profit group wants to relocate its downtown emergency homeless shelter.
Providence Promise has closed its shelter at Saint Joseph’s Church on West Lawrence Street and has purchased the site of the former Mission Church on North Appleton Street.
President Steve Wuerger says the shelter will be open on days and nights with extreme cold or heat.
Wuerger also says it will provide more than just a place to get out of the extreme cold or heat.
Alder Denise Fenton appreciates Providence Promise’s efforts to keep a downtown shelter open.
The Appleton Common Council will vote on a special use permit for the emergency shelter next week.
