The head of Outagamie County wants the sheriff to take over as emergency management director.
The board will vote on that proposal tonight. Action 2 News learned that Lisa Van Schyndel is no longer the director. County Executive Tom Nelson thinks having the sheriff in charge of that position would streamline the system.
Nancy Crowley was the emergency management director in Manitowoc County for 40 years. She thinks both positions are demanding and it’s not a good idea for one person to do both. Nelson isn’t concerned. He believes the role of sheriff prepares him for the position.
