Appleton police are reporting they’ve already had more overdose deaths this year than in all of 2019.
Police Chief Todd Thomas says there were 11 through the first six months, compared to 10 over 12 months last year.
Thomas reports there have been at least 18 suicides in Outagamie County. Over the last several years, he says they’ve averaged about 12 through this time of the year.
Thomas says the coroner’s office is still investigating two other deaths. He says the increase in suicides in 2020 is around 35 to 40 percent.
