The UW System could ask for a 3-1/2 percent increase in funding in the next state budget.
President Tommy Thompson wants use the nearly $96 million to focus on 10 initiatives. They include expanding UW-Madison’s free tuition program for families making up to $60,000 to all UW System schools.
He also wants to add more county-based agriculture positions through the UW-Extension, and expand education opportunities in state prisons.
