The steps public health officials are urging people to take to prevent the spread of coronavirus are the same for the flu.
While there are concerns about having both viruses around at the same time this fall, state Division of Public Health Administrator Stephanie Smiley thinks wearing masks and physical distancing will help. She’s hoping for a lower-than-normal flu season, because of the combination of those non-medical interventions, and the flu vaccine.
Smiley is asking people to get a flu shot right away.
State health officials have pointed to the “safer at home” order this spring as a reason the past flu season ended earlier than expected.
