The Fox River cleanup project is done, and the head of the DNR says they’re seeing improvements in water quality.
Secretary Preston Cole says PCB levels are down about 90 percent over the past 14 years.
He’s also reporting progress in tests on fish. He says they’re approaching levels where they could eliminate the “unlimited consumption” warning for walleyes in some upstream segments of the river.
Cole says paper companies will continue to pay for testing for years to come.
