After about six weeks of recovery, an injured red-tailed hawk is healthy and free.
The female hawk was found on Green Bay’s west side with an arrow through its wing. It was taken to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
Curator Lori Bankson says luckily there wasn’t structural damage to the two-year-old’s wing. Bankson says they initially kept the bird quiet in a small enclosure so she could rest, but over the last few weeks they’ve gotten her ready to fly.
She says the hawk continued to progress, and they believe she can now survive and hunt in the wild.
