A 25-year-old Fox Crossing man is in custody, a suspect in the attack of a Menasha police officer.
Police say officers were called to a store in the 1200 block of Appleton Road yesterday around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a man with an ax causing a disturbance. Police say an officer tried to deescalate the situation when the suspect walked toward the ax and punched the officer several times. An off duty officer in the store and other customers helped to get the suspect under control.
The suspect was tased and taken outside for medical care when he ran away. He was found a short time later. Another officer was hurt while chasing the suspect.
