There’s money in the proposed city budget for Appleton for a library project on the current site.
Mayor Jake Woodford is proposing to spend $2.4 million next year on design work.
Library Director Colleen Rortvedt says they’re looking to incorporate the existing building, but they also don’t want to bind the hands of the architects too much. She says they do expect them to look what could be done with the current building, as part of an expansion construction project.
Woodford also put $24 million into the city’s five-year plan for construction. Right now, the project would be spread out over two years, starting in 2022.
