One of the most powerful Republicans in the state Assembly is resigning.
Representative John Nygren of Marinette is giving up his seat on Wednesday to take a job in the private sector.
Nygren was just re-elected in the 89th District to an eighth term last month.
He was also co-chair of the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee. There will likely be a special election to fill that seat.
