It looks like work on the Loop the Lake trail in Neenah and Menasha will start soon.
Bids for the two trestle bridges came back and the lowest one was below projections.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert says Pfeifer Brothers Construction of Neenah wants to do the work for just under three million dollars.
The bridges will link with existing trails and a short on-street route to create a loop around the southern part of Little Lake Butte des Morts.
Leaders had hoped to start the project earlier this year, but the initial bids were higher than expected.
A state grant fundraising campaign and contributions from Menasha and Neenah will cover the costs.
