The state Department of Justice will launch its own investigation into sexual assault allegations made against Wisconsin Catholic priests. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Attorney General Josh Kaul has sent a letter to all five dioceses in the state advising them of the probe and telling them to retain all pertinent records. Kaul adds the investigation will be about “accountability and healing for the victims”. Previous investigations into priest sexual assault allegations–and the way the Catholic church handled them–have been done by the dioceses themselves or third party organizations.
