The Appleton Police Department is mourning the death of K9 Waskos. Captain Gary Lewis says the German Shepard died suddenly six days ago. Lewis says the good natured nine-year-old did drug detection work and went out on patrol. Waskos had been with the department since 2015. Lewis says a replacement for the dog is already in the works and a new K9 could be on patrol in late fall. The Appleton police department has two other dogs.
